American Gourd Society
Master Judges Training
Workshop Description: This class is not just designed to make you an AGS Certified Judge-it trains AGS Master Judges. As a Master Judge, you will be authorized to train and certify others to be AGS Certified Judges. Students will review and discuss the AGS Judging Standards; procedures for judging a competition; standards for judging different classes of gourds; and how to train, test, and certify future AGS Certified Judges. We will use the gourds entered in the gourd show competition for our hands on training. Students should arrive already familiar with the content of the AGS Judging Handbook, published in the summer issue of The Gourd magazine and posted on the AGS website. This two-part class ends with an open-book test, the same one to be used to certify future judges. Each graduate must attend the entire class and will receive his/her identification as both a Certified Judge and an AGS Master Judge. Take home an official personalized nametag and a packet of info for conducting your own training sessions.
Prerequisites: (1) Member in good standing of the AGS and (2) willingness to return to your chapter to conduct training sessions that certify others to be AGS Certified Judges.
